Penis Curve

Curvature of the penis is a normal phenomenon in most men. It is mainly made up of the corpus cavernosa, which is a system of two spongy tissue chambers on its both sides. If both these chambers do not develop equally, then it causes it to bend on one side. This is what is called penis curve.

Cause of Curve

It may occur due to a large variety of reasons.

(i) Injury to the Male Organ – Most men who suffer penile injuries (especially during violent sports such as football and rugby) are seen to have curves. Especially if there is bleeding, a scar is formed during the healing stage of the organ. This scar is formed just below its skin. The result of this excess star on one side of it will cause curve on the other side.

(ii) Strenuous Intercourse – There is a chance of getting curves as a result of strenuous sexual activity. During sex, if it is exerted much, especially in the lovemaking position when the woman is on top, then it may get curved due to excess pressure. The chances are aggravated if there is an injury to it during the act.

(iii) Tight Clothing – Boys wearing tight underwear could have curved organ when they grow up. When boys wear tight underwear and they get erections, they would push their male organs into the folds of the cloth to hide the bulge from showing. An undue cramping could damage it and cause it to get curved.

(iv) Peyronie’s Disease – Peyronie’s disease is sometimes used as a synonym for curved male organ, but this is not true. The fact is that Peyronie’s disease is just one of the several causative factors of curvatures. Peryronie’s disease is said to be caused when a scar begins to form unexpectedly and inexplicably somewhere in the corpus cavernosa. This scar is more visible when the it is erect. Most cases of curves are due to Peyronie’s disease, but not all. Peyronie’s disease can be surgically corrected.

(v) Hereditary Factors – In some boys, curves are noted even though there has been no injury or frenetic sexual activity. This has led some experts to believe that curves can be caused due to hereditary factors. The curves caused by hereditary factors can be classified as Peyronie’s disease.

Nature of Curve

The curved male organin different men looks different. It could be curved in all directions – right, left, up and down. Also, the angle of curvature could be vastly different. The extent of curvature depends on the nature of the scar that has formed the curve.

Effects of Curve

Generally speaking, there are no biological effects of a curved male organ. It can function just as effectively as a straight organ. There is no difference in the length and hardness of erection between a curved and a straight. During urination, the curved male organ could cause a technical problem, as it would misdirect the flow of the urine. However, men with curved organ are accustomed to hold down their organ towards the urine bowl and thus properly direct the flow.

Also, it can be used for penetrative sex just as effectively as a straight organ. Women never feel the difference once it is inserted into the vagina. However, in some extreme cases, it may be so severely bent that there could be physical problems in inserting it within the vagina. Such cases are rare, and they can be corrected surgically.

Treatment of Curved Male Organ

In most cases, men learn to live with them normally, as there are no biological repercussions. Yet, some men desire to remedy the situation. There are several surgical and non-surgical methods for such men who want to make their penises straighter.

(i) Surgical Methods of Treating Curvature

Surgery can correct curved organ, provided they are carried out by a very skilled surgeon experienced in corrective tissue surgery. The common method adopted is to inject the scar with Verapamil, which causes it to heal itself. In addition, Dexamethasone can be applied to the affected region for better results. Surgeons promise better results if the treatment is done early.
