Penis Enlargement Surgery

Penis enlargement has become a very popular concern among many men of the world today. There are several men who would go out of the way to add a few inches to their members.

Out of the various methods of enlargement being used in the world today, the most popular one is enlargement surgery. The biggest advantage of enlargement surgery is that it produces very quick and sure results. Surgeries could tackle the focal point of it rather than targeting it as a whole. This could bring about not just enlargement but also enhancement of the male organ. For example, a surgical procedure could treat the condition of Peyronie’s disease or curvature.

Surgical Methods of Enlargement

Surgeons are using three different methods of enlargement today. They are penile injections, implants and extension surgeries.

(i) Penile Injections – Silicone injections can be directly given to the male organ or the scrotum. Silicone allows the organ to expand. They cause a widening of the organ, but not much of lengthening. They are very quick acting, as they just need silicone to be settled well into the corpus cavernosa of the penis. They can cause a nine time increase in the girth and it achieves very fast results. Due to the very fast results that can be obtained by them, this method is much preferred by male porn stars.

Today surgeons are trying to replace silicone with other materials such as KY Jelly and collagen with similar results.

However they have some serious drawbacks.

One of the most important ones is the lack of sexual sensitivity in the organ. The silicone layers would tamper with the erogenous feeling within the penile tissues.
Silicone injections could cause scarring and deformation of the organ if anything goes wrong.
They could cause abnormal increase in the girth, which could make it look very disproportionate to the overall body size.
Some men find injected organs very cumbersome in sexual intercourse due to their sheer width.

Hence, it is very necessary to have a very capable surgeon if one is to go in for them. Since this is an irreversible process, pre-surgical discussions must be extensively held with the surgeon to know fully well the implications of the surgery.

(ii) Penile Implants – They are introduced into the corpus cavernosa of the male organ. These implants are worked by a pump that is attached in the groin area. When the person needs an erection, he has to manipulate the pump and inflate the implant. This causes an erection of the organ.

There are some advantages to penile implants which make some men prefer it over penile injections. They are:-

They do not interfere with the sensitivity of the male organ.
There is no abnormal increase in the width or the length and so there is no technical difficulty in sexual intercourse.
They are a boon to the people who suffer from erectile dysfunction or impotence. In fact, implants for them were invented keeping impotent men in mind.
They avoid the use of silicone, which is a material that hasn’t been passed certification for by the US Food and Drug Administration due to its carcinogenic potential.

But there are drawbacks to the penile implants.

Penile implants need to be inflated by a pump. This makes it very cumbersome especially if a man is in the heat of sex.
Since the inflation has to be done in the presence of the sexual partner, this surgical procedure cannot be kept a secret.
Women may be put off by the fact that they are being penetrated by an artificially erected male organ.

(iii) Penile Extension Surgery – This is by far the most popular method used for increasing the length. It is actually made up of two chambers of spongy tissues called as the corpus cavernosa. These spongy tissues are held in place by ligaments. It is because of the ligaments that it gets its characteristic shape.

In penile extension surgery, the surgeon skillfully severs some of the ligaments that hold the corpus cavernosa in place. This loosens some parts of the corpus cavernosa, and hence it hangs better. Thus it gets the look of being better-hung, i.e. extended than it was before.

Advantages of penile extension surgery are:-

There are no foreign materials introduced into the penis.
There is no loss of sexual arousal.
There is no way to find out that the person has had a surgery done, except for a minor incisive scar.

But it has also met with a lot of criticism. People feel that it does look extended when it is flaccid, but when it becomes erect, there is no marginal difference seen. This is because the ligaments loosen the spongy tissues of the corpus cavernosa when erect as it is. So it does not make any difference when it is erect. Hence, men with penile extension surgeries could make their male organ the object of envy in the male locker room, but could find no difference while in bed with their partner.

Alternative Methods

Many people are now using ingenious tactics to make their penises look bigger rather than going in for expensive and risky surgeries. One of these methods is to shave off the hair around the pubic area. This causes an illusion of an erect organ. Some men prefer to put beads into their organs to give the impression of a longer penis and also to provide more pleasure to the partner. Also, men may undergo liposuction around the area of it (such as the thighs). This makes it look bigger in comparison. The latter method is preferred by obese men.
